Our Story

St. Mary’s is an exclusive 145-acre community with 41 homesites located on historic Route 711 in northeastern Powhatan County, Virginia. The primary purpose of the development was the creation of a community which is aesthetically pleasing, functionally convenient and in keeping with the rural nature of the area. Carefully designed covenants, an active Architectural Board, and a Community Association have been created to fulfill that purpose.

St. Mary’s will be of interest to those families seeking large homesites (2 to 11.5 acres) in a rural setting and who demand strict covenants designed to protect that special rural environment as well as their investment. Those who would like to live in a rural setting, who appreciate the value of strong covenants, and who desire a small homogeneous neighborhood have an opportunity to “move to the country” at St. Mary’s.

St. Mary’s purpose, covenants, size, location and beauty combine to give Metropolitan Richmond residents an appealing alternative to large homes crowded on small lots in massive, builder-oriented, “production line,” suburban subdivisions. St. Mary’s is relatively close to Richmond, near clubs, golf courses, churches, and shopping, and far enough away from the suburban crush.

St. Mary’s is not for everybody. But, it is for some forty families seeking an alternative to what has been available in the past. It is for those who want architectural and environmental control, privacy and elbow room in a small peaceful neighborhood.
